Arizona: A Climate for Everyone
Arizona is well known for the Grand Canyon, one of the natural wonders of the world. Many people from foreign countries visit this remarkably eroded fissure through the ground. Some come to hike it, while others simply gaze upon its stark beauty. Even if one has seen pictures and heard first-hand accounts, nothing is adequate preparation for the sheer size. The Grand Canyon, at viewing locations most popular with tourists (such as Mather Point), is about 10 to 15 miles wide. For comparison, for a person standing on a perfectly flat field (such as is common in the Midwest), the horizon is about three miles away.
